| dc.description.abstract | Taking care of the child’s culture is of the utmost importance, as he is a first-class recipient who improves the reception of messages, even if he not keeping attention. Therefore, it was necessary, while translating, to take into account many aspects such as age, morals and religion. Our goal in this study is to know the problems facing the translator during his translation of "Euphemisms" during his translation of cartoon films directed to children, the sample of this study consists of examples taken from the film MADAGASCAR 2005 for the use of "Euphemisms" related to topics of sex and sensitive organs, as well as racism, followed by some hypothesis to reach the goal of this research. In addition, this study also focuses on the main translation strategies of Jan PEDERSON(2005) we relied on to analyse the translated euphemisem in Arabic, to avoid the ambiguity including: retention, literal translation, substitution, paraphrasing, and omission, as well as the critique of inappropriate translations and providing alternatives if necessary. This study attempts to show that the use of "Euphemisms" in cartoon films is a clear phenomenon and that the process of translating it into Arabic is in fact problematic due to the cultural and linguistic differences. From this point of view, this paper is an attempt to explore this phenomenon in the linguistic field first and then in the field of audio-visual translation. The study concluded that taboos and offensive expressions are part of every culture, however, "Euphemisms" allows people to express themselves without fear of being rude and offensive. In other words, translators are responsible for providing acceptable subtitles for children while maintaining a positive message within the animation. | en |
