The present dissertation seeks to investigate the views of first year students about the role of Self-Efficacy in Knowledge Assimilation and Language Production in the Department of English at Mouloud Mammeri University of Tizi-Ouzou. The study is based on two main theoretical frameworks: Bandura’s Self-Efficacy Theory (1977) and Krashen’s Input hypothesis (1981). The Mixed-Method Approach was adopted. It combines both quantitative and qualitative data. Two research Tools were used for collecting data: a questionnaire administered to fifty (50) first year students and a structured interview with (06) six students of the level. The data gathered were analyzed using the rule of three and Microsoft Excel for the analysis of the numerical data collected from the questionnaires and qualitative content analyses (QCA) for the interpretation of the qualitative data collected from the open-ended questions of the questionnaires and the interview. The findings of this study reveal that first year students have positive views about the role of Self-Efficacy in Knowledge Assimilation and Language production. Additionally , it is revealed that many factors affect the students’ views about the role of Self-efficacy in knowledge Assimilation and Language Production ,and also self-efficacy motivates the students to assimilate knowledge and produce language.en
