    Integrating Communication Skills in the Algerian Middle School: An Analysis of the Textbook On the Move

    This study investigates the issue of teaching communication skills in English as a Foreign Language. It deals with the teaching of these skills in the Algerian middle school. It aims at analysing the textbook On the Move which is designed for the fourth year learners at middle school. To investigate this issue, we rely on Trilling and Fadel (2009) theoretical framework for teaching communication skills. A Mixed Method Research is used to gather and interpret the data. It is a combination of the quantitative and the qualitative methods. The quantitative method is shown in the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) in order to get numerical and statistical data whereas the qualitative one is revealed in the use of Trilling and Fadel (2009) framework and Content Analysis for the interpretation and the explanation of the findings. The data which are obtained from On the Move textbook include a total number of three hundred and fourteen (314) tasks. Among these tasks, only one hundred and eighty nine (189) tasks aim to teach communication skills. The results that are reached in this study show that the skill of articulating thoughts and ideas effectively is well developed in the textbook in comparison to the other skills which are listening effectively to decipher meaning, the use of communication for a range of purposes and communicate effectively in diverse environments. To sum up, communication skills are developed in On the Move only to some extent (24%) of the total number of tasks.

    La radiologie conventionnelle en pathologie et chirurgie buccale : intérêts, limites et pièges ; étude de cas.

    On vous invite à nous suivre dans notre réflexion au travers de ce mémoire qui se compose de 2 grandes parties : Une étude théorique et une étude pratique. L’étude théorique a été élaborée parce qu’on est confronté à plusieurs lacunes et une connaissancelimitée des bases fondamentales en radiologie dentaire surtout chez les étudiants de cette spécialité médicale. Seront exposés donc dans le premier chapitre en premier lieu un rappel historique et quelques définitions ainsi que des notions fondamentales sur l’anatomie radiologique. C’est ainsi que nous proposons de traiter les types de la radiologie conventionnelle : leurs indications ainsi que les différentes techniques. Des notions sur la radioprotection seront développées enfin pour que chaque utilisateur sache combien il est indispensable de se protéger d’irradiations. Quant au deuxième chapitre ; nous développerons dans un premier temps la lecture et l’interprétation des radiographies conventionnelles en odontostomatologie relatives aux manifestations radiologique des affections dentaires et maxillaires. Dans un 2éme temps ; nous allons essayer d’étudier le positionnement et les intérêts de l’examen radiologique dans le diagnostic des lésions en pathologie /chirurgie buccale. C’est lors de l’exercice de leur profession que des praticiens, appelés à prendre des radiographies, que les vrais problèmes apparaissent donc nous avons jugé utile d’exposer les différentes limites de la radiologie conventionnelle, les unes liées au matériel mis à leur disposition souvent mal entretenu ou mal utilisé voire obsolète ; d’autres liés au terrain et à la formation du personnel. Enfin nous terminerons par l’exposition des différents pièges rencontrés dans la lecture et l’interprétation de l’examen radiologique conventionnel ; les uns inhérents à la technique les autres inhérents à l’anatomie. Pour l’étude pratique ; nous avons réalisé l’étude de quelques cas cliniques rencontrés au sein du service de pathologie /chirurgie buccale.
