Abstract
This research work aims to answer the following question ―how do semantic isotopy guarantee coherence between the original and the translated text?‖
Syria had been the theatre of violent protest movements that led to the revolution against the government. The Head of State addressed speech to his people with the aim to convince them to put an end to the protest and stand by him to bring back old Syria.
Given this context, we assumed that semantic tools will help us decode the text and reveal the intention of the writer behind his words to achieve the most adequat translation of his speech from Arabic to English.
The analysis done through this dissertation using the theory of sense aim to find out and show to what extend it matters the understanding of the translators to the semantic tools to reach the right comprehension of the original text and therefore to achieving an adequat and a coherent translation
