Abstract
The present course isdesigned to address a wide range of concepts, theories and approachesconcernedwith translation as a practice, a product and a process. It seeks to provide an overview about the intricacies of translation. To this end, itstarts by presentingthemajor milestones of the history of translation, emphasizingitsevolution and the changes it has undergone. It alsoexplores theearlydebates on translationbeginningwith Cicero and Saint Jeromewhose translation methodshadprofound influence on contemporarytranslation studies. Moreover, the course explores the evolution of the discipline of translation studies byexamining the contributions and limitations of major translation theories and approaches
